I wouldn’t be a photography fan if there wasn’t a Henri Cartier Bresson in this list somewhere. I love the composition and perfect timing of this shot. He is the master.

Some black and whites.

As usual, Sculpture by the Sea is impressive more for the location than the sculpture, but it’s nice to see so many people out on the Bondi – Bronte checking it out, especially as the weather has been turning it on for the past few days. I didn’t really have a favourite, maybe the “twig wave” (not it’s real name) – and I don’t know about the one that looked like a meth lab. Was it supposed to look like a meth lab? Maybe i should have bought the program.

I love this little ad campaign by Advertising Agency: TBWA\Singapore, Singapore, for what I’m guessing is their version of “Movember.” The simple art direction allows a great concept to do all the work. (My favourite is super mario. Handyman // Hero. Awesome.)

The roof features a koi (just like our logo.) That would make a stay here tax deductible, right?

These are 2 ideas that seem so darn simple… so why didnt we all think of that. Jenny Odell is making art cutting up things she finds on google maps satellite view, my favourite is the one below, titled 125 american pools.

There is something about the liquidity of the subject matter that remains even when the image is taken from it’s context. Beautiful. The ships and silos (below) aren’t bad either!

And then there is the blog, Google Maps as Art which scours google maps looking for the most artistic areas of the earth. The blog then lets you click on the image to redirect to wher it was found on google maps. A seriously good time waster. See 2 of the images below:

I want to hang these on my wall, right there, next to the Joshua Bronaugh painting I don’t own yet, but oh yes, one day they will hang together on a wall I own.

Like much of Vonnegut’s writing, they’re funny… and then sad. And then despairing. And then funny.

I wish I could say I’d shot these on film. That i’d lugged an old holga across the pacific and lovingly developed the film in a dusty dark room somewhere. I really, really wish I had. But I’m lazy, and I don’t own a holga. And film is expensive. So I used my iPhone.

These pics were taken on the West Coast of the USA in August / September of this year – mainly at the Burning Man Festival, Black Rock City (north of Reno), Nevada, over the Labour Day long weekend.

When i first got this app I was obsessed with it, but now I’m seeing the images pop up everywhere (seriously, everywhere) on the internet and i started to hate it. So now I only use this one, black and white setting, which produces a lovely, grainy, black and white shot, without the inescapable Hipstamatic borders and colour treatments. In short, i’m conflicted: i want to hate the damn thing, i want to have the patience and motivation to “do it properly”, but damn, i love the photos and it’s just too easy.
